Mineola is where I spent most of my childhood right up into my mid 20’s and it was probably the best childhood experience anyone could ever ask for.

Mineola has always been one of Mississauga’s most desirable areas but it has recently become the most desirable and highest priced area in Mississauga. Many of the older homes have been replaced by some truly amazing and opulent homes.

This is where the who’s who of Mississauga lives, and in my opinion, this small and well-hidden pocket is truly one of the greatest gems in Mississauga.

Top Things I Love About Mineola

The Huge Lots:

Many of the homes in Mineola have 60+ foot frontage and great depth. This allows the homes to sit further back from the street and not seem so squished together like in most communities.

The Mature Trees:

You feel like you are in the middle of an enchanted forest with some of the tallest trees in the city. It almost feels like you are in cottage country and time stands still once you enter the community.

The Homes:

These are without a doubt some of the best homes in Mississauga and will always be its most sought after community.

The Schools:

Kenolie is the top ranked public school in Mississauga. You are also steps to Port Credit High School as well as several of the best private schools in Mississauga.

The Location:

It is a quick jump to the QEW and getting to downtown Toronto is a breeze. You’re also only a few short minutes from the Port Credit Go Station.Mineola is literally a stone’s throw away from Port Credit (most people consider it Port Credit), and anybody who lives here has an abundance of great restaurants to choose from.

Colossus:

A Staple of the community for many years, Colossus is always busy and serves some amazing food. I’ve tried all of their seafood dishes, meat dishes and platters and honestly have never been let down. My personal favorites are the grilled calamari, quail and spanakopita.

Spice Lounge & Tapas:

Spice is a great little spot that serves tapas and is perfect for quiet dates or a get together for some drinks. The Serrano Ham and Fig Flatbread is delicious and they have never over cooked my scallops (it’s tough not to do).

The Pump House:

This is your everyday hang out for some bar food done a little better. Everybody knows that if you want the best wings in the city, you get them grilled and you get them at the Pump.

Snug Harbour:

There is no better view in the city than from Snug Harbour. Sitting right on the Port Credit Harbour, this restaurant serves some of the best seafood in the city. Try the Tuna Martini as a starter and follow up with the seafood Bouillabaisse as your main. If seafood isn’t your thing, they also do some pretty great pizzas!

Burgers Priest:

It’s not exactly your sit down place but they make a really amazing burger. I remember driving to Toronto every week to chow down on these freshly ground patties of perfection and now we have one right in Port Credit.

Not to be left out, Port Credit has some really amazing Pubs, including my personal favourites the Brogue Inn and The Crooked Cue. Happy eating folks!

Driving:

Mineola is a great spot to live if you are going to be commuting to downtown Toronto as you can get into the city in 30 minutes or so using the QEW/Gardiner.

GO Train:

Port Credit GO Station is a great option to use to get into downtown Toronto during peak times. The GO train will get you to Union Station within 30 minutes. Check out the GO schedule below:
