There is nothing to complain about when it comes to finding schools in Sheridan Homelands. One of the greatest benefits of living here is that we have public, catholic and French immersion schools that are all located within the community!

Read below to find out more about the schools in Sheridan Homelands as well as see their EQAO and Fraser Institute scores.

Thorn Lodge Public School (K-5):

Thorn Lodge Public School is located at 2730 Thorne Lodge road in Sheridan Homelands. The school has 293 students and has one of the biggest playgrounds, which is perfect for your kids to get all tuckered out before heading home. I have had the pleasure of speaking with principal Gursh Budwal, who came out of his office and gave me and my wife 20 minutes of his time to talk about the school, education and how he continually works towards creating the best learning environment for the children.

Sheridan Park Public School (K-5 ):

Sheridan Park Public School is located at 2280 Perran Drive in Sheridan Homelands. The school has 520 students and while they do have an english track in the school, Sheridan Park is primarily geared towards French Immersion with 370 students enrolled in the program. I had the pleasure of attending an event to learn more about the French Immersion program and could not have been more impressed with principal Lynn Dirks. She took the time to shake every parents hand and ask about their children and you can see the care she has pouring out of her when she speaks about the school and the children.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School (K-8):

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic school is located at 2480 Thorn Lodge road in Sheridan Homelands. The school has 525 students (because they go right to grade 8) and parents in the community rave about it. I met the previous principal Mr. Palmatier and he was a very personable and great person who you could tell loved the kids. I have not yet met principal Donaghue but I am sure she is picking up right where Mr.Palmatier left off.

Homelands Middle School (6-8):

Homelands Middle School is located at 2420 Homelands Drive in Sheridan Homelands. The school has 332 students with an English track and as of 2015 French Immersion in grade 6, which will continue all the way through to grade 8. This is where students from both Sheridan Park Public School and Thorn Lodge Public School will be from grades 6-8. While I have not been there in person yet, I have spoken with principal Dana Wilson on the phone and she was very engaged and pleasant to speak with.

High Schools:

While not located directly in Sheridan Homelands, the high schools which your children will attend will either be Erindale Secondary School or Iona Catholic Secondary School. I have spoken with parents in the community and they have said great things about both schools. I know that parents with children in the arts or specialized programs often take advantage of flex boundaries to get into schools which are geared towards their children’s learning interests.
